TruTone – variable pitch electrolarynxDespite the huge advances in prosthetic speech, following a Total Laryngectomy, some patients still require an electrolarynx. Many hospitals like to offer one as a backup for tracheo-oesophageal voicing patients, or indeed for initial communication during the early post-operative period. Of course, there are also patients that experience further medical complications making prosthetic voicing difficult and find they cannot master oesophageal voice. So far, the only solution available has been an expensive electrolarynx offering effective but monotone voicing. In some cases it has been possible to vary the pitch, but not during voicing itself… until now. Platon Medical introduce the TruTone – a more variable, compact and lightweight device. By using a single pressure-sensitive button, the user can modify their pitch across a two octave range during voicing. In effect this enable the patient to regain a more dynamic and ‘natural’ sounding device compared to other devices. TruTone can also be adapted internally, to create a more suitable masculine or feminine tonal range, allowing for even greater vocal flexibility. Some clinical centres give patients access to the TruTone device prior to surgery, so they can become adept at using the speech aid prior to their Laryngectomy, further helping early post surgical recovery and rehabilitation. Another economic advantage of the TruTone is the fact that it runs o a standard 9v battery. To make it an environmentally friendly alternative, it also comes with two rechargeable batteries and an easy plugin battery charger. Manufactured to a high standard it has a two year manufacturer’s guarantee, including ‘drop and soak’ cover. There is even a unique hands free holder speech aid holder, so that the TruTone can be attached to the neck allowing hands free communication. It can be used with an oral adapter if required.

The TruTone has been a blessing for me, people or better able to understand me now. the tone variance really helps me make a point. I now have 2 TruTones, Griffin helped me get a Texas voucher for my second one. I have had a couple of breakdowns mainly button problems something in them. The service department has been wonderful, quick and courteous turnaround. They must fix them the day they get them it,the way it came back so fast.I am very pleased with dealing with Griffin Labs, they have been great to me. David.

Received a TruTone artificial larynx for our VA Hospital in Asheville, NC this past Friday and am very impressed with it. It is very light weight and has a range not available with my old (Servox) device. Also, I am now able to use an artificial larynx without the oral adapter for the first time. The sharp sounding cap with apparently more power available made it happen.
This is a real first class device lacking in nothing!
Thanks ever so much.

I Have Put Up With A Zerox For 4 Years With Major Repairs. [note, "Servox" was intended, not Zerox.] But Finally Gave Out. That Was My Lucky Day I Got To Use A Electrolarynx TRUTONE. What A Difference: lighter To Hold, And Your Voice Is So Much Clearer, Getting Away From The Buzz Noise, And You Don't Need A College Degree To Adjust It. Lowest Price To Purchase, And Uses Standard Batteries Too--But The Sound Of Your Voice Is The Top Value!!intended, not Zerox.

I started out with a Servox when I went back to work and it worked ok.
I am on the phone around 3000 minutes a month +/- with work related calls and I was very worried before I went back to work as to weather I was going to be able to workk or not. My Servox was working good but I wasn't happy with the sound of my voice or the volume I also found that I had to repeat myself quite often. But as far as I knew that was my only option. I needed to have a back up in case my Servox ever went on the fritz. So I started looking on line for other products. I was told by someone on Web Whispers about the Tru-Tone so I looked it up and figured that I would give it a try. It wasn't going to hurt anything because it was just going to be my back up.Well since I have had my Tru-Tone which is 4 or 5 months now I haven't touched my Servox.
There is no comparison between the two. Once I got use to my Tru-Tone and got it set up the way I liked it it was great. I use a Plantronics wireless headset and now it might happen once in 100 calls that I have to repeat myself and that mostly is due to the fact that I am talking to a poor listener. And believe me after a while you can tell who is a good and who is a poor listener.
So as far as I am concerned if you have a choice there shouldn't be any choosing at all.
Go with the Tru-Tone.
I also bought the handsfree. I don't use it to much but it is there for when I do.

This speech aid changed the way I talk to people entirely. I love mostly its sound that is very clear and loud. I do not have to repeat myself every two sentences as I used to do with my old electrolarynx. There is no terms of comparison between the TruTone and any other speech aid on the market. I am very please with this product. Thanks to this device combined with the SoniVox amplifier I can now even attend to football games and cheer up my favorite team.

I was first intgroduced to the Trutone at the IAL in Indianapolis, In several years ago. Your brother Matt Griffin sat down with me and we had a nice chat during which he let me try the Trutone. I was very favorably impressed and bought one at that time.
Since then I have returned to Delaware and a local Laryngectomee Club. I was so pleased with the tone of the instrument that I have loaned it to almost every new Lary that has attended a meeting. At one time the club was exclusively a Trutone Club.
Another great selling point in my mind is your service. I sent the first Trutone I have in for a tuneup and when I got it back I found it to be just line a new machine. Your efforts to serve the Laryngectomee community is one to be proud of.

Our school division purchased a Boom Vox as an alternative to a desktop soundfield system. We decided to test it without the students knowing about it. As the students were busy with a project, we hooked the microphone to the teacher and turned it on. When she began to speak to the class, every head in the room turned and gave her their attention. She was amazed and excited that she won't have to raise her voice anymore. All the students in the classroom benefit from it, not only the ones with hearing impairment. We liked it so much we bought more!

My students love the BoomVox Amplifier! They can hear me better and pay attention better when I use the amplifier. It saves my voice from straining as I talk to my students. My voice can reach much farther with the amplifier than by itself. This is a great "voice-saver"!

The BoomVox amplifier is an exceptional product that is easy to use and has excellent sound quality. It is great for classrooms, meeting rooms, conference rooms or any situation in which a speaker is addressing more than a few individuals. This product will help to reduce vocal abuse by allowing the speaker to use a normal speaking intensity. I highly recommend it!

The SoniVox™ Waistband Amplifier is a great product for Laryngectomee's using with the Truetone speach aid. I work in a large retail store enviroment. before purchasing the SoniVox™ Waistband Amplifier you could hardly hear me when I talked. Now my voice can now be heard and it also makes it much clearer. The waistband is very long and should fit almost any waist size.

The SoniVox Waistband Amplifier has been a wonderful tool for teaching preschool. While the rest of the class is engaging in free play time, it enables me to get the attention of students with whom I need to work individually without having to shout. It is extremely easy to use. Just strap it on, turn it on, put on the headphones, and it is ready to go. Since my class travels to several different locations and rooms throughout the school day, I love the fact that it is completely portable. Once it is on, I do not not even have to think about it. Since my students require a great deal of hands-on assistance, is vital that it be hands-free. I also appreciate the fact that my amplified voice comes from the speaker strapped to my waist, which directs their attention right to me. (Since they are only three years old, having my voice come out of a speaker that is far away from where I am may confuse or distract them.) The sound quality is very clear and the unit is nice and compact. I would certainly recommend this product to any teacher. Thank you Griffin Labs!
