TheraBite – Treating Trismus

The TheraBite System is a patient focussed therapy for jaw hypomobility problems (Trismus), caused by Radiotherapy, Head and Neck surgery, facial trauma or burns, and other diseases or medical procedures of which limited mandibular (jaw) movement is often a symptom.

Trismus can have a significant impact on a patient’s quality of life by affecting their ability to eat, swallow and speak, whilst compromising oral hygiene, which can lead to further complications.
Designed to create passive motion therapy across an anatomically correct pathway of the jaw, TheraBite is convenient and comfortable to use. By stretching and strengthening the muscles and mobilising the joints, it helps to alleviate pain and inflammation, enabling the patient to achieve a greater mouth opening.

Portable, durable and easy to clean, the TheraBite System is a home-based therapy with a complete exercise programme to be initiated by a clinical professional, which allows the patient to monitor their ongoing progress using the patient log provided.

If required, the TheraBite System can be purchased by an individual, following written endorsement by their medical advisor, and in some circumstances is VAT free.
